Shore Orthotics can evaluate, design and fabricate prostheses
(artificial limbs) for patients who have experienced amputation due to
accidents, congenital problems, or disabling diseases such as diabetes.
The patient will be assisted by us to restore mobility and function and
to return them to an active life style.
Our Prosthetist, Gary Seaman has consulted in many parts of Europe in
the design and fabrication of all levels of prosthetics and is an expert
in both upper and lower limb prosthetics. He specialises in socket
design, alignment and gait training, which are the most important
aspects of prosthetic use. Gary is still involved in consulting to the
industry and currently is a mentor to Silicone Coach in developing their
Prosthetic Gait version. Gary coined the phrase "Back to Life".
The Shore Orthotics Gait Lab is not only for Orthotics, but is a very
useful in monitoring prosthetic Gait and a very valuable tool to compare
pre and post adjustments, training, new components etc... The Gait Lab
is also a very useful tool during Gait training. We work with our
patients to design and select a prosthesis that will best suit their
needs. Our patients will be trained to use their prosthesis and to
actively function to the best of their ability, utilising our unique
prosthetic training systems that have been taught in many parts of the
world.
